Origin of Lapsang Souchong
Lapsang Souchong traces its roots to the picturesque Wuyi Mountains in Fujian province, China. This region has long been famous for its unique tea traditions and favorable climate for growing high-quality tea.
Historical Fact
Legend has it that the smoky taste of the tea was discovered by chance during the Qing Dynasty. Troops occupied a tea factory, and to speed up the drying of the leaves after the soldiers left, farmers used bonfires of pine branches. This imparted a unique aroma to the tea, which later became its hallmark.
