Origins of Estonian Ivan Chai
Our granulated Ivan Chai is harvested in ecologically clean corners of Estonia — from the untouched forests of Võrumaa to the floodplains of

Peipsi. In these regions, nature has preserved its pristine purity, and the traditions of using medicinal herbs have been passed down from generation to generation in farmsteads.
Historical Fact
The tradition of consuming fireweed (Est. põdrakanep) is deeply rooted in the history of the Baltic Sea region. In the 19th century, 'Koporye Tea' was well-known to the inhabitants of the Governorate of Estonia
and the cities of the northern coast. Local apothecaries and herbalists valued it as much as foreign varieties, and at fairs in Tallinn and Tartu, fermented fireweed was considered a healthy and affordable alternative to expensive Chinese tea. Today, we revive this craftsmanship, utilizing the richness of northern nature.

The Ideal Way to Brew Ivan Chai

  • Heat water to 90-95°C (do not bring to a rolling boil). 🌡️
  • Take 1 teaspoon of granulated Ivan Chai per 200 ml of water.
  • Add the tea to a preheated teapot.
  • Pour hot water and let steep for 5-7 minutes. ⏳
  • For a richer flavor, you can brew up to 2-3 times. Enjoy! ✨
