History of Ceylon Tea

Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, is one of the world’s leading tea producers. The history of tea on the island began in 1867 when the Scotsman James Taylor established the first commercial tea plantation in Loolecondera, near Kandy. It was thanks to his efforts that the tea industry in Ceylon rapidly developed after coffee plantations were destroyed by a fungus.

Interesting Fact: The first tea seeds were brought to Ceylon from Assam, India, which played a key role in shaping the unique profile of Ceylon tea.

Ideal Brewing of Ceylon High-Grown Tea ☕

To fully unleash the taste and aroma of Ceylon High-Grown tea, we recommend following these simple rules:

Water: Use fresh, clean water brought to a boil (95-100°C). 🌡️
Proportions: For 200 ml of water, take 1 teaspoon (2-3 g) of tea.
Brewing Time: Steep for 3-5 minutes. For a stronger infusion, increase the time. ⏱️
Teaware: It is advisable to use a porcelain or glass teapot.
