Banzhang Jin Ya – Organoleptic Characteristics

The aroma immediately reveals rich and warm notes: deeply earthy, slightly woody and sweet, reminiscent of ripe forest berries and damp forest floor. This inviting aroma hints at the taste experience to come.

In color, the infusion is a deep mahogany brown, transparent and bright, suggesting high-quality aging. With each brew, the color becomes more intense and inviting.

The taste is full-bodied and velvety in the mouth, offering a harmonious balance between sweetness and earthy notes. Undertones of ripe fruits are discernible, blending with soft woodiness and a slight spiciness. This is a truly oily infusion that coats the palate with a pleasant and long-lasting aftertaste. The taste develops with each brew, revealing new nuances and depths, providing a memorable and soothing experience.

The aftertaste is long and pleasantly sweet, leaving a warm and satisfying feeling in the mouth. It invites you back for the next cup and confirms the exceptional quality of this Pu-erh tea.

The Banzhang region, deep in the heart of China’s Yunnan province, is renowned for its ancient tea trees and lush, misty mountain landscapes. Here, on fertile red soil rich in minerals, grow the tea trees from which the world’s most prized Pu-erh teas are made. Dense fogs and a tropical climate create ideal conditions for the slow and deep development of tea leaves. According to legend, Banzhang tea has been a favorite of emperors for centuries, offering them wisdom and longevity. Every cup of Banzhang tea is a journey to this mystical and historical place.
  • 🍵 Prepare a gaiwan or a small clay teapot (about 100-150 ml).
  • ⚖️ Use 5-7 grams of tea leaves.
  • 🌡️ Heat water to 95-100°C.
  • 💧 For the first “awakening” rinse, pour water over the tea leaves and immediately (within 5-10 seconds) pour it out. This cleans the leaves and prepares them.
  • ⏳ First true brew: let the tea steep for 10-15 seconds.
  • 🔄 Subsequent brews: extend the steeping time by 5-10 seconds each time. This Pu-erh can withstand numerous brews, offering new flavor nuances each time.
  • ☕ Enjoy!
